UAB to host Mad Scientist Day

mad scientist day 2017 tsArea children will learn just how fun science can be during Mad Scientist Day at the University of Alabama at Birmingham on Saturday, May 6. The event, hosted by the Birmingham chapter of Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society, is free and open to elementary and middle school students.

Kids can partake in more than 30 interactive demonstrations and experiments — from developing their own slime concoctions to conducting lab experiments — and learning basic principles of science while having fun.

The event will be held from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the UAB Chemistry Building, 901 14th St. South. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and both adults and children must wear closed-toe shoes and full-length pants. Protective goggles will be provided.
