Live HealthSmart Alabama has partnered with local businesses, organizations and community members to bring vivid and abstract murals to the Kingston and Titusville communities.

Birmingham-based Protective Life Corporation and its parent company, Tokyo, Japan-based Dai-ichi Life Holdings, Inc., committed $3.5 million of gifts locally in 2015 when Dai-ichi acquired Protective. The dedication to being part of building a strong community has continued since that time with $25.9 million of community contributions.
For the 22nd year of this university tradition, 139 UAB volunteers worked with six community partners at 14 sites around Birmingham, including Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Sozo Trading and the Live HealthSmart Alabama community cleanup in Kingston.

The smoke-free Health District on Birmingham’s Southside created by a City Council ordinance in October has launched.
The Birmingham City Council passed an ordinance on Tuesday, Oct. 15, that establishes a non-smoking Health District on Birmingham’s Southside. Smoking will be prohibited on public property – including city streets and sidewalks within the Heath District.
