Antarctic explorer honored for two decades of research expeditions

The Explorers Club honors Jim McClintock, Ph.D., for his ongoing efforts in chemical ecology and drug discovery.

McClintock, Ph.D., Endowed Professor of Polar and Marine Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has been awarded The Explorers Club Finn Ronne Memorial Award. This award recognizes his ongoing Antarctic expedition that has taken place over the past two decades. Because of their research, McClintock and his collaborators have become world authorities on Antarctic marine chemical ecology and drug discovery.

The Finn Ronne Award honors individuals noted for accomplishments in polar field research that best exemplify the spirit of explorer Finn Ronne. McClintock will be honored in front of the largest-ever gathering of Apollo astronauts at the 115th Explorers Club Annual Dinner on Saturday, March 16, in New York City.
