Collat School of Business Career Center team took center stage at the 2024 Alabama Association of Colleges and Employers Summer Conference in July as Josh Jackson, a senior majoring in entrepreneurship, was honored with the Best Audiovisual Award at the conference.

“Winning this award as a senior felt incredibly rewarding and is a reflection of my hard work,” Jackson said. “This award highlights how storytelling through video can have a real impact and reinforces the power of visual media.”

Jackson’s video highlighted Birmingham’s vibrant career space and promoted networking opportunities for business students. The video has since become a powerful tool in promoting the Collat Career Center to recruiters and industry partners, further connecting students with internships and job opportunities.

The team, composed of Jackson and Andrea Stechmann, assistant director of Employer Engagement at the Collat Career Center, were keynote presenters at the conference. Their presentation, titled “Elevating Employer Partnerships to Infinity and Beyond,” focused on how the team built robust partnerships with influential organizations, including the Birmingham Business Alliance and the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce.

Stechmann was installed as the new president of AACE for the 2024-2025 term and says UAB’s presence at the conference highlights their commitment to expanding opportunities for students through strategic collaborations with industry leaders.

“I am honored to serve in an organization dedicated to driving greater opportunities and career services for students across Alabama while also showcasing the Collat School of Business as a leader in student success and positive outcomes post-graduation,” Stechmann said.

With its impactful presence at the AACE conference, the Collat School of Business Career Center continues to set the standard for career development, ensuring UAB’s business students are equipped for success in an ever-evolving job market.
