McClintock’s book is a work of nonfiction based on his adventures and discoveries during 20 trips made in his 30 years of researching the White Continent. McClintock — for whom a point is named on the Scott Coast of the Ross Sea — hopes his book will bring Antarctica to life for those who may never experience the beautiful, yet dangerous and environmentally fragile continent first-hand.
The event, presented by the UAB Department of Biology, Barnes and Noble/UAB Bookstore and All Seasons Travel, is open to the public. Copies of Lost Antarctica will be available for purchase.
