Karen Meneses, Ph.D., has been named the 2016 Distinguished Faculty Lecturer, the highest honor bestowed by the UAB Academic Health Center. She will deliver a lecture at a seated dinner in her honor Wednesday, Feb. 15, at The Florentine.
Meneses, professor and associate dean for Research and Scholarship in the UAB School of Nursing, serves as co-director of the Ph.D. in Nursing program. Meneses is also the co-leader of the Cancer Control and Population Sciences Program at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center and multiple principal investigator of the R25 Cancer Prevention and Control Training Program at UAB. She has a track record of sustained external funding and mentoring. Meneses also leads the Young Breast Cancer Survivors Network Initiative based in the school.
Since 1964, the Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Award has honored individuals in the Academic Health Center of UAB who have made major contributions in education, research or service.
