Two professors in the UAB Department of Mathematics are recipients of new grants from the National Science Foundation. Nikolai Chernov, Ph.D., was awarded $149, 800 for a project devoted to the study of mathematical models in statistical mechanics — understanding the long-term behavior of systems, like climate patterns.
Jun-fang Li, Ph.D., was awarded $99,725 for a project that will consider systems of equations to solve problems at the intersection of mathematics and physics.
