Dransfield serves as the Medical Director of the UAB Lung Health Center and is also the Medical Director of Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Dransfield is also the Director of the Bronchoscopy unit and the Lung Mass Clinic at the Birmingham VA Medical Center.'

He is principal investigator for multiple clinical trials at the UAB Lung Health Center including the NIH sponsored COPD Clinical Research Network studies and COPDGene as well as multiple phase II-IV pharma sponsored projects.
