Durant studies multi-level barriers in recruitment of minorities into clinical trials in order to design interventions to increase diversity in research study populations, and also serves as the medical director at Cooper Green Mercy Health Services. Durant's research interests include hospital use among minority patients with heart failure and incorporation of community health works in chronic disease management for heart failure.
