Heersink School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative MedicineThe Benjamin Monroe Carraway Endowed Chair and Professor, Harrod’s research goals are grounded in the use of emerging or high throughput technologies to elucidate system-wide knowledge of host-pathogen interactions in respiratory infection.
He has a primary focus in the molecular mechanisms underlying pathogenesis, immunity and host defense to respiratory viruses such as influenza, paramyxoviruses and SARS-CoV, and a long-standing interest in community-acquired bacterial infections of the lung including sepsis.
