Two June 2007 graduates of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Public Health have been selected as Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) for 2007 to 2009.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two June 2007 graduates of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Public Health have been selected as Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) for 2007 to 2009.

Holli Hitt, a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., who earned her master’s in public health, will be working as a public health analyst in the National Center for Health Marketing at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

Travis Broome, a native of Slidell, La., who earned his master in public health and his M.B.A., will be working as an analyst for the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare in its Dallas Divisional Office.

The PMF Program is designed to attract to the Federal service outstanding men and women from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths who have a clear interest in, and commitment to, excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs. It is a rigorous two-year paid program that includes 80 hours of formal classroom training each year, assignments, accelerated promotions, developmental learning and networking opportunities. Fellows are hired by federal agencies and given exposure to domestic and international issues in such areas as public administration, technology, science, criminal justice, health and financial management.

The PMF Program was established by Executive Order in 1977. By drawing graduate students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, the PMF Program provides a continuing source of trained men and women to meet the future challenges of public service.
