BIRMINGHAM, AL — University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) junior Nandini Raghuraman of Birmingham Southside has received an American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) Thomas J. Bardos Science Education Award for Undergraduate Students valued at $1,500.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) junior Nandini Raghuraman of Birmingham Southside has received an American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) Thomas J. Bardos Science Education Award for Undergraduate Students valued at $1,500.

Raghuraman is one of 21 students chosen for the scholarship. Recipients will attend the AACR’s annual conference that will be held in Washington D.C., on April 1. Money from the scholarship will go towards expenses related to the conference.

Raghuraman is the daughter of Unnithan (cq) and Tara Raghuraman of London, Ky. She is a 2003 graduate of Central High School in Tuscaloosa. At UAB, she is majoring in biology and has a 3.88 grade point average. She is a member of the Indian Cultural Association, TrailBlazers and Undergraduate Student Government Association treasurer.
