BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB Health System presented its 2006 Nursing Clinical and Leadership Excellence Awards today in ceremonies at the Margaret Cameron Spain Auditorium. UAB Hospital Associate Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer Cynthia Barginere was emcee. Michael Waldrum MD, UAB Hospital chief operating officer, and Faye Elliott, chair of the Nursing Leadership Council, addressed the honorees. Awards went to:

UAB SCHOOL OF NURSING

Last month, UAB Hospital was redesignated as a Magnet Hospital for Nursing Excellence, awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for outstanding nursing services. UAB has been the only hospital in Alabama to receive the prestigious designation since it was first awarded here in 2002.
