BIRMINGHAM, AL — In his State of the Union address scheduled for Wednesday, February 2, President Bush will lay out his agenda for the second term. The following University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) political scientists in the Department of Government will be available for comment and analysis:

Holly Brasher, Ph.D., is an expert on the presidency, congressional leadership and public opinion about political parties. She is co-author of the book Organized Interests and American Government. She is an assistant professor.

Nikolaos Zahariadis, Ph.D., is a political scientist whose research interests include European public policy, political economy and foreign aid. He is the author of several books, including Ambiguity and Choice in Public Policy. He also edited the book Contending Perspectives in International Political Economy. Zahariadis is an associate professor.

Carlos Yordán, Ph.D., has published and presented many studies in the field of international relations. His research interests are the reconstruction efforts in Iraq and international peacemaking and conflict resolution. He is a visiting assistant professor.
