The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Early Medical School Acceptance Program (EMSAP) has accepted 13 new students into the honors program for the 2005 year. EMSAP is a select program that affords academically superior high school seniors the opportunity to be considered for admission to the UAB School of Medicine immediately after high school graduation, provided that they complete a baccalaureate degree at UAB

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Early Medical School Acceptance Program (EMSAP) has accepted 13 new students into the honors program for the 2005 year. EMSAP is a select program that affords academically superior high school seniors the opportunity to be considered for admission to the UAB School of Medicine immediately after high school graduation, provided that they complete a baccalaureate degree at UAB.

“Membership means a place is reserved for these students at the renowned School of Medicine at UAB once they complete their UAB bachelor’s degree,” said Gregory E. Pence, Ph.D., professor of philosophy and director of ESMAP. “The program guarantees an excellent undergraduate experience along with a top-notch medical education.”

Students accepted into the program are:

  • Bennie Taylor ll, Loveless Academic Magnet Program, Montgomery

  • Sara Singhal, Randolph School, Huntsville

  • Riley Carpenter, Patrician Academy, Butler, AL

  • Sheila Venkatesh, Lakeside High School, Augusta, GA
