Area elementary, middle and high school students competed in the 19th annual Brent Newman Memorial Egg Drop Contest presented by the UAB student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The students were challenged to construct lightweight devices that protected a raw egg dropped from the roof of the three-story School of Engineering.

WHAT:      Area elementary, middle and high school students competed in the 19thannual Brent Newman Memorial Egg Drop Contest presented by the UAB student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The students were challenged to construct lightweight devices that protected a raw egg dropped from the roof of the three-story School of Engineering.

 

WHY:         The event was part of UAB's observance of National Engineers Week.

 

TO WIN:     First, the egg must survive the fall intact. In addition, contestants are  judged on the design and weight of their device - the lighter, the better.
