Rosalinda C. Roberts, Ph.D., professor of psychiatry at UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham), has been named the second holder of the Kathy Ireland Endowed Chair for Psychiatric Research.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Rosalinda C. Roberts, Ph.D., professor of psychiatry at UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham), has been named the second holder of the Kathy Ireland Endowed Chair for Psychiatric Research. The appointment was approved Feb. 2 by the Board of Trustees of the University of Alabama System.

Roberts is an internationally recognized figure in schizophrenia research who was recruited to the UAB faculty in 2007 from the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Roberts earned her doctorate in biological sciences at the University of California, Irvine, and did postgraduate study at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.

She is a member of the Society for Neuroscience, and since 2004 and has been recognized in Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare. The author of more than 70 peer-reviewed papers, editorial reviews and book chapters, Roberts also is a journal reviewer for the Veteran’s Administration and the National Institute of mental health.
