BIRMINGHAM, Ala- On Saturday, March 8, the UAB Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), placed third in the "Best College Chapter/Youth Unit" category at the NAACP's 56th Annual Southeast Regional Conference held in Jackson, Miss.
The chapter also was honored with the "Most Outstanding Youth Communications Award" for its Web site, www.uabnaacp.org. The students competed against chapters in the Southeast Region 5, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
