Cook-off supports scholarships and UAB Mock Trial Team

Birmingham area attorneys and others in the legal profession will compete in the fourth annual University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) "Trial By Fire" Chili Cook-Off sponsored by the UAB Pre-Law Advisory Board. The cook-off will be Thursday, April 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Regions/Harbert Center Plaza, located at the corner of 6th Avenue North and 20th Street North.

Teams representing area law firms and others in the legal profession will compete for the top prize. Each team will submit their own chili recipes. A panel of local court judges will select the winner.

The UAB "Trial by Fire" Chili Cook-Off was created to help support UAB's Pre-Law Program. Monies raised at the event will benefit scholarships for students in the Pre-Law Program and provide funds for the award-winning, undergraduate mock trial team's travel expenses. The Pre-Law Program, administered by the UAB Department of Justice Sciences, is an interdisciplinary program that prepares undergraduate students for the legal profession through its curriculum, mock trial program and other activities.
