Marilyn Day, MSW, a former medical social worker at UAB Hospital, has rejoined the University of Alabama at Birmingham as support group facilitator at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Marilyn Day, MSW, a former medical social worker at UAB Hospital, has rejoined the University of Alabama at Birmingham as support group facilitator at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Day, working with cancer support staff throughout UAB, will begin and coordinate support groups as well as provide practical and emotional support for patients and families.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology with a minor in psychology from Auburn University, and her master of social work degree from the University of Alabama.

For six years she served with her husband in Londiani, Kenya as a community health teacher with the African Inland Mission, an international Christian mission.

Previously she was a clinical social worker in private psychiatric/counseling practice with Neville and Associates at Brookwood Hospital, where she provided outpatient psychotherapy for adults and adolescents, facilitated support groups and inpatient mental health services.
