Lois M. Christensen, Ph.D., a University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) associate professor of elementary education, has been appointed to the PBS TeacherSource National Advisory Board.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Lois M. Christensen, Ph.D., a University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) associate professor of elementary education, has been appointed to the PBS TeacherSource National Advisory Board.

Christensen teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary social studies methods in the School of Education’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction. She also is part of a teaching team that offers a summer course for teachers on the civil rights movement in Birmingham. She has been a member of the UAB faculty since 1996. Christensen’s membership on the PBS TeacherSource National Advisory Board begins this month. Her term ends in August 2005.

PBS TeacherSource provides pre-K-12 teachers with PBS program-related lesson plans, student activities, recommended books, Web sites and more, which are correlated to national and state standards. The PBS TeacherSource National Advisory Board is comprised of educators from across the country, PBS member station representatives and national PBS television producers.
