University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) government Professor Akhlaque Haque, Ph.D., has been named to a three-year term on the Commission on Program Review and Accreditation (COPRA).

BIRMINGHAM, AL — University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) government Professor Akhlaque Haque, Ph.D., has been named to a three-year term on the Commission on Program Review and Accreditation (COPRA).

COPRA is the accreditation arm of the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA), an institutional membership organization which promotes excellence in public service education. The membership includes university programs in public affairs, public policy, public administration and nonprofit management. COPRA members review masters in public administration programs seeking NASPAA accreditation.

Haque is an associate professor in the UAB Department of Government. He directs the department’s master’s in public administration program and is a senior research fellow with UAB Center for Urban Affairs.

Haque’s research interests are in the areas of administrative theory and behavior, electronic government and geographic information systems, public health and the urban population. Through his research, Haque has received several federal grants, including grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Haque is published widely in peer reviewed publications such as Public Administration Review, Administration and Society, Public Administration Quarterly, International Journal of Public Administration, Journal of Ethics and Technology, Journal of Rural Health, Public Health Registry, Journal of Urban Technology, Annals of Epidemiology, Journal of Management History, and Public Personnel Management. He is a member of the Public Administration Review editorial board.
