Marion Broome, Ph.D., professor of nursing and associate dean for research with the School of Nursing at UAB, has been named editor of Nursing Outlook, the journal of the American Academy of Nursing.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Marion Broome, Ph.D., professor of nursing and associate dean for research with the School of Nursing at UAB, has been named editor of Nursing Outlook, the journal of the American Academy of Nursing. She will assume the post January 1, 2003.

The peer-reviewed journal publishes articles examining current trends in nursing practices, education and research. A nationally respected researcher in pediatric nursing, Broome has authored numerous scientific papers on children’s participation in research studies and children and pain.

Broome earned her bachelor’s of science in nursing degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, her master’s in nursing degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia and her doctoral degree in child and family development from the University of Georgia in Athens.

She joined the UAB faculty in 1999. Prior to this, she served as professor and associate dean for research with the School of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
