DeeDee Barnes Bruns has been named associate vice president for enrollment management at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, announced Virginia Gauld, Ph.D., UAB Vice President for Student Affairs. Bruns has overall responsibility for student recruitment, international student and scholar services, financial aid and new student orientation.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — DeeDee Barnes Bruns has been named associate vice president for enrollment management at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, announced Virginia Gauld, Ph.D., UAB Vice President for Student Affairs. Bruns has overall responsibility for student recruitment, international student and scholar services, financial aid and new student orientation.

“We are thrilled to have been able to recruit someone with DeeDee’s extensive background and experience,” Gauld said. “Her intimate knowledge of the Birmingham area and of Alabama will help UAB as we continue to attract the best and brightest students to campus.”

Since 1995 Bruns has served as vice president for admission and financial aid at Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham. Prior to that, she served as associate director of admission at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri for 13 years, as well as serving on the admission staffs of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri and Avila College in Kansas City, Missouri.

Bruns earned her bachelor’s degree in education from William Jewell College. She earned her master’s degree in liberal arts from Baker University in Kansas.
