The third annual UAB Liver Center Dinner at the Wynfrey Hotel will feature Washington Redskins quarterback and former Auburn University quarterback Jason Campbell. Campbell will be roasted by a number of friends and former teammates, Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Wynfrey Hotel Grand Ballroom. Media seeking interviews should arrive at 7 p.m., sharp. The money raised at the UAB Liver Center Dinner allows physicians and scientists to continue to address the public health challenges - and the devastating effects on patients - of viral hepatitis and other liver diseases, as well as their complications. Over the past two years, volunteers have raised nearly $350,000 for the UAB Liver Center, providing much-needed funding for patient education, research, new technologies, the education of future liver specialists and the support of physicians delivering excellent patient care.

The honorary chair of the third annual UAB Liver Center Dinner is Birmingham attorney Jim Simpson, a successful UAB liver transplant recipient in 2007. There also will be special recognition of Dr. Paul Hubbert, Alabama Education Association executive secretary, and the Honorable Bettye Fine Collins, Jefferson County Commission president, for their advocacy efforts.

The UAB Liver Center, established in September 1995, offers specialized care to children and adults with all types of liver and biliary tract diseases, develops research programs to support clinical care, and educates professionals and the public about liver disease.
