Roy C. Martin, Ph.D., associate professor in the department of neurology at UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham), has been named a Fellow of the National Academy of Neuropsychology.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Roy C. Martin, Ph.D., associate professor in the department of neurology at UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham), has been named a Fellow of the National Academy of Neuropsychology. Martin was cited for significant contributions to the science and profession of neuropsychology. He has been a member of the academy for 10 years and was elected to fellowship status on June 30. Fellow is the most distinguished rank offered by the academy.

Neuropsychology involves the study, evaluation and treatment of known and suspected brain disorders using the methods of psychology. The National Academy of Neuropsychology is a professional society that includes clinicians, scientist-practitioners and researchers interested in neuropsychology. Martin received an early career award from the academy in 2003.

Martin obtained his bachelor of arts degree and masters in science degree in psychology from Augusta College. He received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Louisiana State University, and completed clinical internship and postdoctoral specialization in clinical neuropsychology from West Virginia University-Morgantown School of Medicine.

Martin has been the director of neuropsychology services for the UAB Comprehensive Epilepsy Program since 1995.
