University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) graduate psychology student Margaret M. Schmitt, a native of Houston, has been named to receive the 2004 Rosecrans Graduate Student Research Award.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) graduate psychology student Margaret M. Schmitt, a native of Houston, has been named to receive the 2004 Rosecrans Graduate Student Research Award. The award will be presented by the Alabama Psychological Association during its annual convention Saturday, June 5, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Schmitt was selected for the award for her research paper “Verbal Learning Ability and Adjustment to Recent-Onset Spinal Cord Injury.” The paper is based on her research for her master’s thesis and will be published in the journal Rehabilitation Psychology. Schmitt will deliver a brief presentation about the research during the Alabama Psychological Association convention.

Schmitt is a doctoral student in the UAB Medical/Clinical Psychology Program. She is the daughter of Ray and Jo Ann Schmitt of Houston.
