University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) assistant Professor Karen Dahle, Ed.D., has been selected for a three-year term on the Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities editorial board.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) assistant Professor Karen Dahle, Ed.D., has been selected for a three-year term on the Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities editorial board.

Dahle teaches in the UAB School of Education’s Department of Leadership, Special Education and Foundations. She has written numerous journal articles and a book chapter on educating children with autism. Prior to joining UAB in 1999, Dahle was director of autism services at Glenwood Inc., in Birmingham, and vice president of Gadsden Psychiatric Associates.

She has been a member of the National Council for Exceptional Children and a consultant to the Alabama State Department of Education’s Division of Special Education Services. She has also been a board member of the Alabama Federation Council for Exceptional Children’s state chapter and president of the Council for Exceptional Children, Birmingham chapter.

Dahle earned her bachelor’s degree in behavioral disorders from James Madison University in 1976, her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Radford University in 1981 and her doctorate in special education administration and supervision from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1992.
