BIRMINGHAM, AL — Pauline Jolly, Ph.D., professor of public health with the department of epidemiology at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), is recipient of this year’s Phi Beta Delta Faculty Award, a prestigious honor presented annually by the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars. UAB’s Beta Nu Chapter nominated Jolly for the award in recognition of her outstanding achievements and excellence in international education. She received the award at the society’s annual conference held recently in Washington, D.C.

Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars honors those who serve internationalism — the idea of a world connected, of respect for different traditions, of the need for education to enhance knowledge of the many cultures that are part of a globe we all share. Its members include Secretary of State Colin Powell, Mrs. William Fulbright, Noble Peace Prize Laureate Norman Borlaug, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and many others who exemplify those ideals.
