BIRMINGHAM, AL — The first Minority Research Day in Alabama, to be held April 18 in Birmingham, will promote research activities conducted by African-American and Hispanic investigators in all disciplines. It is sponsored by the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

African-American and Hispanic student, post-graduate and faculty researchers from UAB, Alabama’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Morehouse School of Medicine are invited to submit abstracts for the meeting. The event provides exposure and new research possibilities, networking and career development opportunities.

The event will be co-directed by Louis Dale, Ph.D., vice president for equity and diversity; Mona Fouad, Ph.D., M.P.H., director of the Minority Health & Research Center; and Selwyn Vickers, M.D., director of Project EXPORT.
