June 16-20, UAB Theatre Presents Shakespeare Workshop for Teens

UAB Theatre and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival will present a one week “Shakespeare Intensive” drama workshop for teenagers June 16-20, at the Alys Stephens Center, 1200 10th Ave. S. The workshop is for students in grades 7-12. Workshop hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Instructors will be UAB Theatre faculty and staff, led by Dennis McLernon, M.F.A. The workshop fee is $200. The workshop is for young actors who want to dig deeper into their characters, add more complexity to their movement, achieve new levels of theatrical expertise and investigate what meanings the Bard puts within his lines.

The camp culminates with an opportunity for students to use their new experience with the performance of a Shakespearean piece at week's end.
