The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) National Alumni Society (NAS) will host the Dollars for Scholars 5K/10K Run benefiting UAB scholarships. Both the 5K and 10K races are certified by the USATF. Sponsors for Dollars for Scholars plan to hold the event annually.

The races will take place on Friday, April 25 at 6 p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m. at the Pepper Place district, located at 29th Street and 2nd Avenue South.

The public can still register today for $25 by going to www.active.com or they can register by calling 205-934-3555 or download a registration form at www.uab.edu/alumni and return it via fax at 205-934-3926. Registration the day of the race is $30.

A post-race party with refreshments, food and entertainment for all ages will be held on the patio outside of Cantina, located at 2901 2nd Ave. S., and along 29th Street South in the Pepper Place district.

Last year Dollar for Scholars raised $32,000 for scholarships. The National Alumni Society provides more than $450,000 in scholarships for UAB students.
