The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures will begin offering a certificate in Spanish for Specific Purposes this year.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures will begin offering a certificate in Spanish for Specific Purposes this year.

The courses are designed to teach business and health care professionals to speak Spanish. Enrollment also is open to UAB students. Classes will begin this fall.

Students will learn Spanish words, phrases, cultural awareness and communication skills that are applicable to their profession. Classes will include beginning, intermediate and advanced Spanish for business and the health professions, translation and interpretation and phonetics. Opportunities for internships and study abroad also will be available. Students who complete the courses will earn a certificate in Spanish for Specific Purposes.
