Wonderland is a group of professionals, student artists and art enthusiasts that meet bi-monthly to do art related projects, discuss art and sponsor and promote art activities on campus and in the community. It was founded by three UAB art students, Antoinette Gupton, Rachel Johnson and Yu-hui Huang, with the help of faculty adviser Doug Baulos. Their purpose is to expose members to art related topics above and beyond the classroom, provide further knowledge of professionalism in the field of fine arts and promote fellowship and visual growth for students. Their mission is to present exhibitions of members' work on campus and in the local community, to work on art-related projects, to facilitate interactions between members and professionals in the art world and to provide a forum for discussion of art related topics, inspiration, and critique of artwork. Members need not be an art major to join.
On show for the first Wonderland exhibition at the UAB Visual Arts Gallery are works by Wonderland members and student artists Antoinette Gupton, D'Ana Rios, Dwayne Crenshaw, Jonathan Hicks, Kristin Bloodworth, Krysta Parsons, Melissa Knowles, Michael Baker, Nathan Prewett, Rachel Johnson, Robert Pardue, Trenton White, Von Nelson-Love, Xiao Jin Zou and Yu-hui Huang.
