The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA), established 10 years ago to raise money for research at UAB, will present this year's funds to the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. The event will take place Thursday, December 8 at noon at the UAB Hospital 2nd Floor - Cancer Center Board Room. On hand will be Dolly O'Neal, President of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama and Albert F. LoBuglio, M.D. of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.

In 1995, Dolly O'Neal, an 18-month breast cancer survivor, and Bruce Sokol, whose wife, D.D., was undergoing breast cancer treatment, shared the energy and desire to do something to fight cancer. So together, they formed the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA).

All of the money raised by the BCRFA goes to breast cancer research at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $1.7 million. The organization's main fundraiser is its annual Drive Out Breast Cancer LPGA Pro-Am Golf Tournament, which this year celebrated its 10th anniversary with record-breaking numbers, raising more than $250,000.
