BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mother-and-daughter folk pop artists Mae and Cally Robertson will present an acoustic concert, "A Celebration of Mothers and Daughters," on Oct. 6 to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama. The event will be held 5-7:30 p.m. at the Virginia Samford Theatre, named for Mae Robertson's mother.

A reception on the patio of the theater, located at 1116 26th St. S., will be held 5-6 p.m., with hors d' oeuvres by Mizan Plaz and floral arrangements by Nancy Trucks of Flower Trucks.

The BCRFA will host the event, along with sponsor Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell and Berkowitz, PC. Marion Walker, BCRFA board member and attorney, will be the emcee.

Since its inception in 1996, the foundation has raised nearly $1.7 million for breast cancer research, and assisted in the funding of the DD Sokol and Tade Thuston Breast Cancer Research Laboratories at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
