BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Fairfield community health advisors (CHAs) are planning to "Paint Fairfield Pink" the week of Oct. 18-23 to promote the early detection of breast cancer.

The CHAs, who were trained in how to communicate health to people in their community, will ask businesses and individuals to display pink ribbons during that week to support early detection of breast cancer through the use of mammography, according to Elise McLin, president of the Fairfield CHA group.

The activity will end on Oct. 23 by handing out informational literature and pink ribbons to the public at the Wal-Mart on Aaron Aronov Road in Fairfield.

The group was trained through a partnership of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center and Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta.
