BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) will be one of 50 hosts of a national event called Healthy Minds across America, a forum to highlight research into schizophrenia and depression. Organized by the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD), the event begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Margaret Cameron Spain Auditorium, corner of 19th St. and 7th Ave. on the UAB campus.

UAB and other top academic institutions across the nation that will hold this event simultaneously to promote awareness of new and exciting research in mental health fields, as scientists try to better understand these illnesses and as clinicians develop new and better treatments for them.

The forum, which is free and open to the public, is organized locally by the UAB Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology and co-sponsored by the UAB Comprehensive Neuroscience Center.

The forum will feature videos shown at each site, along with live presentations from local researchers. UAB scientists will detail their recent and on-going research projects which will focus on the current status of psychiatric research and exciting, innovative treatments on the horizon.

Parking is available at the 4th Avenue Deck located at 1801 4th Avenue South or free limited parking is available on the street next to the auditorium.
