UAB and the American Red Cross are launching a Labor Day blood drive with a goal of collecting 1,000 units. The Team Spirit Drive is a chance for UAB faculty, students and staff to celebrate the end of summer, the return to school and the beginning of football season by donating blood.

The drive will be held in the 2nd floor atrium of the North Pavilion of UAB Hospital., corner of 18th St. and 6th Ave. S. one the following days:

Tuesday, September 2nd - 11:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.

Wednesday, September 3rd - 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, September 4th - 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Friday, September 5th - 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

The Team Spirit Drive is designed to overcome the usual end-of-summer blood shortage. UAB and the Red Cross are in the second year of an ambitious plan to boost the blood supply through increased donation and better management of the resource.

Donors receive a free T-shirt, free parking, food and a complimentary round of golf at any of the state's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail courses except Lakewood and Ross Bridge.

In addition, every donor can participate in drawings for a variety of prizes including a golf outing for four at Ross Bridge; a gift certificate to the Spa at Ross Bridge; and an overnight visit at a Bed & Breakfast retreat.
