BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Alys Robinson Stephens Performing Arts Center debuts a new blog online this week, http://blogs.uab.edu/ascpresents.
The "ASC Presents" blog is a showcase for artist videos, audio, interviews and reviews, behind-the-curtain information about the center as well as detailed information and news on artists scheduled to perform this season. The blog is linked from their Web site, www.AlysStephens.org.
The blog format is an entertaining and engaging forum for sharing information about artists and events presented by the Alys Stephens Center. Readers are encouraged to make comments and send feedback, including artist reviews or previews, suggestions and more, to the Alys Stephens Center staff, who will man the blog and add posts weekly.
Highlighted this week on the blog is "inter-ART-ive," an ASC Social Club outdoor patio party celebrating Birmingham's thriving arts and culture scene, 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the center, 1200 10th Ave. S. Birmingham. The "inter-ART-ive" party is an invitation for young professionals to participate in the arts; the party is free for all young professionals. The evening includes a craft beer tasting sponsored by Free the Hops and Birmingham Budweiser, product and prize giveaways and great food from local restaurants. Guests can enjoy live music from The White Oaks and open mic performances from local musicians, hosted by Bottletree. One open mic performer will be invited to perform during the Alys Stephens Center's upcoming season. Admission is free. Call 205-975-2787 or go to www.AlysStephens.org for more details.
