BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB Percussion Ensemble will present a concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Alys Stephens Center's Jemison Concert Hall, 1200 10th Ave. S. The ensemble is directed by Gene Fambrough, D.M.A. Admission is free. Call 205-975-2787.

The concert program opens with a recent work, "Exploration of Time," by Eckhard Kopetzki. This powerful display of drumming will literally begin the concert with a bang. Other pieces on the program include "Immortal Dream" by Nathan Daughtrey, "Dotty Dimples" by George Hamilton Green and "Living Room Music" by the American composer John Cage.

The evening will conclude with a major work, "Concerto for Percussion Ensemble" by David Gillingham, which is a tour de force showcasing the different instrument families in the percussion section, Fambrough said.
