This week the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society at UAB will host a panel discussion, "The Presidential Election 2008: What Does it All Mean?" Local experts on national and statewide politics will look back at the 2008 election to analyze the candidates, the key issues and discuss what it all means for the future of politics in Alabama and the nation. The event will take place Thursday, November 20 from 3:30-5 p.m. at Heritage Hall, Room 106, 1401 University Blvd. and is free and open to the public. Call 205-934-5634 for details.

The panelists will include Marty Conners, former chairman of the Alabama Republican Party; UAB Associate Professor of history Sam Webb, Ph.D., an expert on Alabama's political history; UAB Assistant Professor Holly Brasher, Ph.D., a political scientist and expert on the presidency, interest groups and public opinion about political parties; UAB Professor Larry Powell, Ph.D., an expert on political communications and polling; and UAB Associate Professor Steven Haeberle, Ph.D., chairman of the UAB Department of Government, who teaches courses on politics and the media.
