Thirty students in the UAB Social Work Program will be honored with a Special Recognition award from Easter Seals Alabama for their volunteer work with the organization.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Thirty students in the UAB Social Work Program will be honored with a Special Recognition award from Easter Seals Alabama for their volunteer work with the organization. The award will be presented to the students on Dec. 5 at the Easter Seals Alabama annual luncheon in Montgomery.

The award is presented annually to recognize volunteers who have assisted at Easter Seals fundraising events and other activities.

The UAB social work students will be honored for their volunteer work at the Easter Seals annual "Walk With Me" fundraising event, which was held in March. In addition, the students have raised $2,500 for Easter Seals this year.

The students worked under the direction of UAB Assistant Professor Wes Akins, MSW, LGSW.
