BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Teen violence is the subject of a seminar presented by the Student Physicians for Social Responsibility chapter at the UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) School of Medicine. John Bolland, Ph.D., will present "Boys 'n' Guns 'n the 'Hood: Predicting Youth Violence in the Inner City", at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 13 in Conference Room C of Volker Hall, 1670 University Blvd.

Bolland, associate professor of health behavior in the School of Public Health, has been studying violence and other risk behavior from youths living in severely impoverished inner-city neighborhoods in Mobile for the past 11 years. His presentation will focus on gun violence by adolescents.

Bolland also is a senior scientist at the UAB Injury Control Research Center (ICRC), which is co-sponsoring the seminar.

The seminar is free and open to the public. Lunch will be served to the first 100 attendees.
