January 9-30, UAB Visual Arts Gallery Features Silent Auction Benefit of Custom Decorated Skateboards

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Visual Arts Gallery presents “Blank/Decks,” a gallery exhibition and benefit featuring custom decorated skateboards, vinyl Munny Kidrobot toys and resin graffiti rail cars, decorated by local and national artists, Jan. 9-30, at the gallery, 900 13th St. S. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Visual Arts Gallery presents "Blank/Decks," a gallery exhibition and benefit featuring custom decorated skateboards, vinyl Munny Kidrobot toys and resin graffiti rail cars, decorated by local and national artists, Jan. 9-30, at the gallery, 900 13th St. S. Birmingham.

The works will be auctioned to benefit the UAB Visual Arts Gallery programs. The auction runs for the duration of the exhibition. It is a silent auction; bidders must register at the gallery and will get a bid number. All works start at the same price, $75.

An opening reception is planned for 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9 at the gallery. DJ Ken Webb of Urban Fabric will play at the opening. Admission to the gallery is free. The UAB Visual Arts Gallery is located at 900 13th St. S. Call 205-934-0815.

Thirty artists have been invited to customize. Artists include Derek Cracco, Erin Wright, Doug Baulos, Alan Skees, Clayton Colvin, Lee Cooper, Gary Chapman, John Fields, Walt Creel, Lloyd Cooper, Jane Timberlake, Pat Snow, John Powers, Dan Bynum, Neil Kirkpatrick, Jason Varone, Doug Barrett, Megan Kimber, Kristin Skees, Stephen Campbell, Christopher Davis, Merrillee Challiss, Christopher Lowther, Chatham Hellmers, Lisa Michitti, Bo Hughins, Amy Pleasant and Annie Butrus.
