The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and the Alliance Française of Birmingham will present a free public lecture in English by author, historian and UAB Associate Professor Stephen Miller, Ph.D., “The Terror in Southern France During the French Revolution 1793-1794.”

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and the Alliance Française of Birmingham will present a free public lecture in English by author, historian and UAB Associate Professor Stephen Miller, Ph.D., "The Terror in Southern France During the French Revolution 1793-1794."

The event will be held 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the UAB Mary Culp Hulsey Recital Hall, 950 13th St. S. The lecture is free and open to the public. Call 205-934-8902 for more details.

Miller, who teaches in the UAB Department of History, is author of a new book, "State and Society in Eighteenth Century France: A Study of Political Power and Social Revolution in Languedoc" (2008). The book analyzes state and social relations in 18th century France and examines how social forces played a critical role in the origins and unfolding of the French Revolution.
