BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB School of Business chapter of the American Marketing Association is sponsoring the last of a three part lecture series, "Marketing Yourself in the New Economy" on Friday, March 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the Innovation Depot, 1500 1st Ave. N., Birmingham.

The lecture is titled "Suiting Potential Employers: Dress and Interviewing in a New Business Environment," and will focus on the importance of personal presentation in the job search.

Registration is $15 for business professionals, $7 for students. Limited seating is available.

AMA faculty adviser Lauren Skinner, Ph.D., said a similar lecture series hosted for students on the UAB campus left lecture halls at standing room only. She now wants to bring the same professional development and resume skills to recent victims of company layoffs as well as those still at work wanting to refresh their job seeking skills.

"We want to target workers ages 30 and up who have recently found themselves out of work and on the job hunt," Skinner said. "We'll give them skills to look great, feel confident and stand out at an interview for all the right reasons, because the job market is more saturated with applicants than ever before."
