BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The next University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Liver Disease Support Group meeting is 6-7 p.m., Tues., May 12, fourth floor conference room of The Kirklin Clinic, 2000 6th Ave. S.

Jorge Herrera, M.D., professor of internal medicine at the University of South Alabama, will discuss autoimmune liver disease.

The UAB Liver Disease Support Group, organized in 2007, provides a forum for adult patients with liver disease to learn more about their condition and share with others their experiences. The group also offers educational programs covering medical, social and nutritional topics.

The support group is affiliated with the UAB Liver Center and the group's meetings and activities are coordinated by Tracey Gwaltney, C.R.N.P. The group meets from 6-7 p.m. the second Tuesday of every other month at The Kirklin Clinic.
