BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB School of Business students will make a formal check presentation with funds enough to purchase more than 2,500 children's books for area literacy programs. Funds are still being collected; the final dollar amount will be announced at the event.

The event will take place Thursday, April 16 at 1 p.m. at the Business and Engineering Complex (BEC) Lobby, 1150 10th Avenue South.

Hundreds more gently used children's books also will be donated by the students as part of the first annual UAB American Marketing Association (AMA) chapter's book drive to benefit the Children's Literacy Guild of Alabama and Junior League of Birmingham.

The UAB AMA, along with the entire School of Business, is committed to outreach programs and services. The AMA's book drive for child literacy, April 6-15, is one in a series of annual projects to meet that mission.
