The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Business will honor four exceptional alumni at its Eighth Annual Alumni Awards Luncheon Monday, May 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 1p.m. at The Club, 1 Robert S. Smith Drive.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Business will honor four exceptional alumni at its Eighth Annual Alumni Awards Luncheon Monday, May 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 1p.m. at The Club, 1 Robert S. Smith Drive.

The 2009 UAB School of Business Alumni Award recipients are:

• Honorary Alumnus Award

David P. Kassouf will be recognized for his many contributions the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. Kassouf is the managing director of L. Paul Kassouf and Co., a leading accounting firm headquartered in Birmingham.

• Young Alumnus Award

Scott Ledbetter will be recognized for achieving industry success in his early 30s as the North Regional Manager of Consolidated Electrical Distributors of Bolingbrook, Ill. Ledbetter received his degree from the Department of Marketing and Industrial Distribution in 1992.

• Outstanding Alumnus Award

Allen Kniphfer, director of the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency, will be recognized for his rise to one of the most prominent positions in local government. Kniphfer received his degree from the Department of Management and Organization in 1983.

• Outstanding Alumnus Award

Mike Escue is the president of Sequent and will be recognized as a trailblazer for starting the Birmingham-based human resources and organizational development consulting firm in 1995 and turning it into a national company. Escue received his degree from the Department of Finance, Economics and Quantitative Methods in 1988.
